About Baby Timeline

A free tool that turns the confusing rules around having a baby into one dated list.

Having a baby comes with a surprising amount of admin, and the deadlines are spread across different GOV.UK pages, employer policies and council websites. Miss the Child Benefit deadline and you lose money; apply late for school and you go to the back of the queue. Baby Timeline puts every key date in order, worked out from your own due date or your baby's birthday.

How we check the rules

Every rule and figure comes from GOV.UK or another official source, and each guide links to where it came from. We last checked everything on 28 October 2026, and update the site when rules or rates change, usually each April.

What we don't cover

We stick to money, leave, childcare and paperwork. For health questions about pregnancy or your baby, speak to your midwife, health visitor or GP, or visit the NHS website.

Independent

We're not connected to the government. The timeline is a guide, not advice. Always check your own situation with GOV.UK, your employer, your council or your childcare provider.
